Around the NFL
I think we can say with near-certainty that Indianapolis will be resting players in week 17. They've lost the division to the Titans.
Watching the the Texans beat Jacksonville tonight, I was thinking the Colts might still make a run at the AFC South.
Indianapolis clearly is going to win its next two against Cincinnati and Detroit, and I think it will easily beat Jacksonville in week 16 if it needs to.
That potentially could leave the Colts hosting Tennessee in week 17 with a chance to pull even record-wise. The Titans are at Houston in week 15 -- I think they could lose that game -- and they have to play Pittsburgh in week 16.
So I still see it as a strong possibility that Indianapolis will enter week 17 just one game back of Tennessee. The problem, however, is that the Titans would win the tiebreaker between those teams -- better record in common games. And with that in mind, I can't see Tony Dungy working his players hard when he had a playoff game (on the road) the following week.
