Chargers at Pittsburgh / history

Posted Jan. 04 at 06:13 AM

Including an 11-10 loss in November, the Chargers have lost all 13 regular-season games they’ve ever played at Pittsburgh.

But San Diego has twice played playoff games at Pittsburgh, and it won both of those. Dan Fouts outlasted Terry Bradshaw 31-28 in a shootout following the strike-shortened 1982 season.

And these teams met in the AFC Championship game following the 1994 season. The Steelers were an almost prohibitive favorite in that game – they’d even recorded a Super Bowl rap video prior to the game – but the Chargers came back and upset them 17-13. San Diego went on to get blown out by the 49ers in the Super Bowl, with Steve Young throwing 6 TD passes.
