Previously, that had happened only six times in the 30 years since the NFL went to a 16-game schedule in 1978.
Oddly, however, those teams weren’t nearly as successful as you might think. Only three of those seven teams made the playoffs, and only one won even one postseason game (that would be the 1988 Bengals, who made to the Super Bowl before losing 20-16 to San Francisco).
