Factoid
I mentioned previously that I thought that Sage Rosenfels (obtained by Minnesota from the Texans) threw too many interceptions. Below are the numbers.
In terms of interception frequency – percentage of throws that get intercepted – the only guy who’s thrown more interceptions than Rosenfels is the guy who handled most of Minnesota’s quarterbacking last year: Gus Frerotte.
Rosenfels is a quarterback who isn’t afraid to try to force the ball. He’ll put balls up for grabs in hopes that his receiver can make a play. With these kind of quarterbacks – Derek Anderson and Brett Favre come to mind – they can be really effective when they get the hot hand. But when defenses play them well or kind of figure them out, the whole offense can kind of fall apart.
So my initial thought is that I’m not really on board with the decision to trade for Rosenfels. I’m not confident he’ll be the answer for the Vikings.
(And note, by the way, that if the Vikings wind up getting Brett Favre, he's well up on this list as well).
