Around the NFL
The Tennessee Titans have signed wide receiver Nate Washington. He was a No. 3 receiver for Pittsburgh, but he'll be a starter for the Titans.
The team announced the move on its official website.
Washington caught 40 passes for 631 yards last year. In the first half of the season, he had four straight games with a reception of 48-plus yards. He did not, however, have any receptions of 25-plus yards in his final 11 games including the playoffs.
Pittsburgh would have liked to have had Washington back, but they've got Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward as their starting receivers, and Limas Sweed -- their second-round pick last year -- should be ready to move up into that No. 3 role.
Tennessee's main catchers should be Justin Gage, Bo Scaife and Washington. It also has Chris Johnson as a receiver coming out of the backfield.
On the statistical side, I noticed earlier in the day while compiling some numbers that the Titans were the only team in the league that didn't have a touchdown pass inside the 5-yard line last year.
