Around the NFL
The Cowboys reportedly are cutting Terrell Owens.
This has been rumored for the past few weeks, but now that it's actually happening, it's big. Hurts Tony Romo. Helps Jason Witten. And could really help Roy Williams -- he could be a top 5 or 10 receiver if he's still good enough to play at that level.
And it also puts a real big free agent in play. Owens can be a major headache and a one big pain in the ass, but he's also still a talented receiver. He'll land somewhere.
Ironically, two of the teams that are most hungry for a wide receiver aren't potential landing spots. No way will Owens sign with the Eagles or Vikings. He's got an ugly history with Philadelphia, and Owens also can't work with Vikings coach Brad Childress (who was an assistant at Philadelphia during Owens' blowup year).
So wear does Owens land? Maybe the Jets, who just lost Laveranues Coles. Maybe the Jaguars, who've been looking for a big-time receiver for years. And you can never count out Daniel Snyder's big ego in Washington.
But the Cowboys just got very different.
