Around the NFL
The Chargers and LaDainian Tomlinson appear to have settled their differences.
They've agreed to a new contract that will keep LT in San Diego for at least another year, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports.
Tomlinson will make $6.725 million this year, but some of that money has been converted into a signing bonus, creating salary cap room. And some of Tomlinson's future salaries have been reduce, with more incentives worked in.
So for 2009, it looks like the Chargers will go with a one-two punch of Tomlinson and Darren Sproles, with Tomlinson probably getting something like 60-plus percent of the work, but Sproles contributing big plays.
After the 2009 season, they'll no doubt re-examine Tomlinson. As much as he slipped last year, I'm not willing to guarantee he'll still be around in 2010.
