Around the NFL
The Rams, as expected, have release Torry Holt.
You can see some of the details at the website of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
But now where does the veteran receiver go?
Holt comes off a lesser year, but he's still just 32 years old. He's still a starting caliber receiver.
Last summer, Holt said he'd like to finish his career in Carolina (he's from the area and played his college ball at N.C. State). But the Panthers might be set at receiver with Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad. Would they kick Muhammad to the curb to get a little better and younger at that position? I'm not sure.
Jacksonville, Miami and the Jets come to mind as other teams with a need at the position.
