The Ravens have signed free agent tight end L.J. Smith, according to The Baltimore Sun.
It's supposedly a one-year deal for $1.5 million.
Not sure what this means for Todd Heap. I think Heap will still be on the team and the team's primary pass catcher at that position. The Ravens almost exclusively use sets with multiple tight ends, so I think there's room for both of them.
The one curious thing is that neither Smith or Heap is much of a blocker, and the Ravens do like to emphasize the running game.
