Around the NFL
Thomas Jones is boycotting the Jets offseason workouts, according to Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger.
Jones had the great season last year, but he's 30 years old and would like to work out a new contract while he's still got some tread left on the tires.
The Jets also have Leon Washington, but he's a smaller guy who's best left in a part-time role -- kick returner, pass catcher and change-of-pace back. And as well as Washington played last year, he's also looking for a new contract (as outlined in an article by Erik Boland of Newsday).
Yes, the Jets have problems right now. Unhappy running backs and no quarterbacks. As of right now, they're definitely the No. 4 team in the AFC East.

I just want to note that although Leon Washington wants a new contract, he's not "unhappy." As the link indicates, he's there participating in voluntary workouts. In fact, a lengthy Jones holdout, if that happens, might give Washington the chance to show that he can take on a much larger role in the offense. As for the division, while the Jets do have the most offensive question marks of any AFC East team, I think they'll have far and away the best defense. Maybe that will be enough to have them there with Buffalo and Miami as teams that could finish up around 9-7 and contending for a wildcard spot -- if they can come up with a serviceable quarterback, which is a big "if."
