Ian Allan
As I start to look at the six-time Super Bowl champion Steelers, I notice that have an unusual number of skill-position guys in contract years.
Willie Parker
Hines Ward
Heath Miller
Jeff Reed
All are entering the final years of their contracts. Should make for some interesting decisions next spring. Both Parker (29) and Ward (33) are older guys, and the Steelers have younger players available at both positions. The development of Rashard Mendenhall will play a role in how much the team is willing to give to Parker.
Ward is particularly interesting. He's been with the team 11 years and has won a couple of Super Bowls -- he was the MVP of Super Bowl XL against Seattle. He's a Mr. Steeler type of guy. But he's also slowing down -- he's an old 33 -- and the team might want to move on. It's also got Santonio Holmes' contract coming up the following year.
Will make for big decisions in Steeltown.
