Derrick Ward / yards per carry

Posted Apr. 18 at 01:46 AM

What kind of running back are the Bucs getting in Derrick Ward?

He hasn’t played a whole bunch, but what he’s done in his brief work has been impressive. He ran for over 2,000 yards in his final year at NAIA Ottawa (Kan.). He’s been a productive receiver, and he averaged 90 rushing yards in his seven starts for the Giants.

In yards per attempt, Ward has been about as good as any back. He averaged 4.8 yards per attempt two years ago, and he averaged a league-high 5.6 per pop last year.

Below see the tabulated averages for all 30 backs who’ve carried the ball at least 300 times in the last two years.
