Around the NFL
Few players in the league have averaged over 5 yards per carry in back-to-back seasons, and one of them is now available.
The Broncos waived Selvin Young today after he failed a physical.
Shocking, considering it was just last summer that he was talking about putting up a 2,000-yard season.
If he gets back to full strength physically, Young should latch on as a backup somewhere. Maybe the Texans, who run the same zone-blocking scheme that Young excelled in with the Broncos (particularly in 2007), will bring him in. They’re looking for a backup to Steve Slaton, though they’d probably prefer a bigger guy.
Over the last two years, Young has averaged 5.1 yards per carry – 4th-best in the league among players with at least 200 attempts.
