Around the NFL
Michael Vick is still sitting out there.
He's scheduled to complete his prison sentence on July 20, and things should develop from there. Roger Goodell has said he'll reinstate Vick is he senses that the former Atlanta quarterback is truly remorseful. How Goodell would make such a decision, however, remains to be seen.
Tony Dungy met with Vick today, according to a report by ESPN's John Clayton. Dungy potentially could help Vick get reinstated sooner rather than later.
Vick's off-field problems are severe. He was convicted of funding a dogfighting operation, and that might be just the tip of the iceberg in regards to his off-field issues. He lied to commissioner Goodell numerous times about the issue.
But the overwhelming feeling you get when listening to players, coaches and media figures, is that Vick has paid his price to society and should be allowed to re-enter the league. It almost certainly will happen by 2010; it might even happen this year.
