Around the NFL
Not everyone in Minnesota is hoping the Vikings sign Brett Favre (who reportedly will meet with Brad Childress later today).
Check out the column by Jim Souhan that appears in the Star Tribune. Reader Duane Stay sent me the link.
In there, Souhan rips Favre pretty good, pointing out that he's not the quarterback he used to me.
"If the Vikings want to sell tickets, they should sign Brett Favre," Souhan writes. "If they want ESPN to build a base camp in Eden Prairie, they should sign Brett Favre.
"Favre is the supermodel who maxes out your credit cards. He is the sports car that wipes out your bank account. He is enticing, and he is captivating, and he is trouble."
It's a fun read, and I completely agree. Favre used to be a great quarterback. But he's not going to help any team in 2009.
