If Brett Favre's throwing arm checks out OK, he'll come out of retirement and play for the Vikings, reports ESPN's Jeremy Schaap.
Schaap says the Vikings currently are examining X-ray's of Favre's shoulder. He injured it late last year with the Jets.
If the injury requires major surgery, Favre will remain retired. If the shoulder doesn't look like a problem, Favre will be returning to the NFC North.

Tough to know what to believe any more. Each new report ("Childress flying to Mississippi" "Favre turns down Vikings" "Favre sends X-rays") directly contradicts the previous one. I imagine the next one will be "Favre comes home from 2-week fishing trip, surprised to discover answering machine full." I think the guy needs surgery, won't have it, and that will be it. (But stay tuned until tomorrow, when we find out he's been playing long-toss with Bernard Berrian since last week.)
