Fanex: Ian chickens out

Posted May. 18 at 02:56 AM

Going to bed last night, I was actually thinking I would probably open with four wide receivers in this ongoing (online) FANEX ANALYSIS DRAFT. It’s a points-per-reception league, and I know there will be some adequate running backs available in the 5th, 6th and 7th rounds.

There’s a “flex” player in this league, so you can start four wide receivers and only two running backs if you wish.

But Reggie Bush is available at spot 3.11. I didn’t really expect that. I’m not a big Bush fan – I’d prefer a more durable running back – but there’s not a huge difference in production between Bush and the wide receiver I should really take here.

So I’m chickening out. Logically, I should select a wide receiver and count on the draft unfolding correctly. The top receivers on the board should outproduce Bush by a few points (given the format), and they’re much safer bets to start 16 games. In hindsight a couple of days from now, I may look back and regret not going with a wide receiver here. But I’ll go the safe route and stick a running back into the lineup.

Does it upset you when people take two days to make a pick? It drives me nuts! I see Moreno went, so forget my earlier post. Macklin, I think is still there though.

I would do better, I suppose, if I used at least 4 hours for each of my picks -- see if there's a trade offer, or whatever. But I don't have the energy for it. When I see my pick coming up, it's an itch that you need to scratch. I tend to decide which player or two I would want, then loading it into the pre-draft function. And the short answer to your question is yes, it bugs when when guys stall the draft by not choosing. As I understand it, some of the guys are on business trips or whatnot and don't have constant internet access.

That's a big excuse for sure, but predrafting seems to be something these people refuse to do.
