Favre has shoulder surgery

Posted Jun. 07 at 08:42 AM

Here we go again. According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Ed Werder, Brett Favre has undergone arthroscopic shoulder surgery, in hopes of repairing the injury that apparently has been the major stumbling block between him returning to the NFL for a 19th season.

As their story indicates, this doesn't make it definite he'll come back. The surgery may not be effective in enabling Favre to throw the ball the way he'd like to, in order to presumably resume his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings.

That said, it doesn't take much of a leap to connect the dots here. Favre was reluctant to have the surgery, but apparently had it anyway. There wasn't much reason for him to do it unless he was fairly certain he wanted to play in the NFL this year.

At this point, it's not going to be surprising if Favre reports to training camp next month for the Vikings, longtime rivals of the team Favre is most associated with, and faces them two times next season.
