Many at looking for Dwayne Bowe to have a big year.
He caught 86 passes and 7 TDs last year, and now Kansas City has lost Tony Gonzalez – that might result in even more passes being thrown Bowe’s way. And most (not me, but most others) think Kansas City got a big upgrade at quarterback when it traded for Matt Cassel.
Bowe, however, got a less than ringing endorsement earlier this week from Todd Haley. The third-year receiver is about 20-25 pounds overweight, according to the new coach.
”Dwayne’s another one who probably let himself go too far in the off-season so it’s been a long road back,” Haley said.
You can see the Haley interview at the team’s official web site.
I’ve got Bowe ranked at about 12th among receivers in the magazine (which they’re just starting to print right now). But the way he seems to be picking up – or not picking up – the offense, it seems like maybe that’s a couple spots too high.
“We’re trying to make football number one and hold everybody accountable to that,” Haley said. “He (Bowe) is just one of 86 guys we’re telling the same thing and we want guys that are pretty serious about football.”

I think when you look at the recent history of NFL teams having "worst to first" type seasons, Kansas City has to be considered a prime candidate this year. They could hardly play any worse than they have the last two years, they have some talent, a breath of fresh air, and are in a division full of teams that can't seem to live up to expectations. I don't get too concerned about offseason overweight issues - the workout freaks seem more likely to suffer injuries anyway. As long as he shows the willingness to get back into shape, I'm not concerned about his work ethic. I avoided Chief players in the draft like the plague last year, but it was hard not to be impressed by what Bowe was doing.

I think Bowe can only move up this year to a top ten receiver.last year he had 1022 yards 7 tds. He will for sure receive some of Gonzales 1058 yards 10 tds added to his o9 stats.Thigpen,Cassel, doesnt much matter, both had around 20 tds last year. Both are good,Thigpen 18, Cassel 20.
