Around the NFL
David Haugh, a columnist for The Chicago Tribune, makes an interesting point in his column today. He points out that if a team is going to make a move for Plaxico Burress, it might be best to do so now -- before his legal situation is resolved.
Haugh points out that with Burress' next court appearance (to face felony gun charges) delayed until September, he will be available to attend a full minicamp. How many games he's eligible for, of course, remains to be seen. For the 2009 season, it could be anywhere from 0 to 16 -- 0 if he's jailed/suspended immediately, and 16 games if the court case drags on and is delayed past the end of the season.
There's also the league angle -- he likely will be suspended for two, four, eight games at some point.
