Around the NFL
The Broncos signed Brandon Lloyd today. Seemingly not a huge deal, with the team already having Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, Jabar Gaffney and Brandon Stokley.
But Lloyd is a competent player -- a viable No. 3 receiver or lesser receiver. He also worked with Kyle Orton last year in Chicago.
That Denver would sign him could be an indication that the team is close to trading away Brandon Marshall. He wants a new contract; the team doesn't want to give him one; and he's been staying away from the minicamps.
A couple of teams are in dire need of a big-time receiver -- Chicago, Baltimore -- and Marshall could be a fit for one of those teams.
We'll see how it plays out. My feeling is that Marshall will be traded this week.
The Denver Post has a short story on the signing of Lloyd.
