Around the NFL
Scratch one potential NFL holdout from the list of "disgruntled" players: Greg Jennings. The Packers locked up their young wideout with a three-year extension worth up to $31 million, that will ensure he remains as Aaron Rodgers' top target through the 2012 season.
Say what you will about Ted Thompson's forays (or lack thereof) into free agency, but he's been more than willing to take care of his own over the years. Jennings, Ryan Grant, Aaron Rodgers -- that should be the team's offensive nucleus for the next 3-4 years, at least.
This could mean that the team will now turn its attention to safety Nick Collins, who is also reportedly seeking a new contract. Less likely would be a raise for Donald Driver, although the potential for friction given the size of Jennings' deal does exist. What's clear, anyway, is that the team had no plan to let Jennings get away when his current deal expired, even with other young wideouts (James Jones, Jordy Nelson) possibly ready to take on larger roles in the offense.
