Around the NFL
It's looking less likely that Plaxico Burress will play this season.
He was arraigned today on felony weapons charges, and his court date has been set for Sept. 23, according to a legal report at at the CNN/SI website.
The NFL is also reviewing the case and could decide to hit him with an additional suspension. With the facts of this case fairly open and shut, Burress could look to cut some kind of plea deal, reducing his possible jail time. If convicted, he could face three and half years in prison, so any deal probably would include at least a year.
Regardless, it now looks less likely that Burress will step on an NFL field for the 2009 season.
