Around the NFL
As a rookie Rashard Mendenhall got called out in training camp for fumbling too much and not running tough enough in short-yardage situations.
A year later, is he a dramatically different back?
An article in this morning’s Pittsburgh Tribune-Review says that Mendenhall was stopped on both of his goal-line carries in a drill on Sunday.
Good news: Mendenhall worked with the first-unit offense on this drill (Willie Parker may have been sitting out, but they don’t want to use him in short-yardage situations anyway). Good news: Mendenhall was working against the league’s toughest defense – those guys don’t give up yards easily. Bad news: Mendenhall went 0-for-2 in this drills.
