Factoid
Wes Welker missed two games with a knee injury, but he’s still on pace to finish with the 2nd-most receptions in NFL history. At his current pace, Welker will finish the season with 138 catches, only 5 short of Marvin Harrison’s league record.
That number of receptions would also be 15 more than any other NFL receiver – ever.
So far, Welker has 79 catches in eight games – almost 10 per game. If he can catch 31 passes in the final six games of the season (which looks like little more than a formality), he’ll also become the first player every with three season with more than 110 catches.
Others who have caught 110-plus catches twice include Harrison, Jerry Rice, Jimmy Smith, Cris Carter.
