Around the NFL
It looks like weather is going to be a factor in the Steelers-Browns game tonight. There's both cold and wind, that will make kicking and passing difficult.
The latest report indicates that it's 15 degrees right now, with 24-40 mph winds. For the latest weather update, click here.
Those with the NFL Network will get a chance to see the field during the pregam show, but it looks like it's going to be pretty nasty. I'd be nervous about starting kicker Jeff Reed (who has a tough matchup anyway).
I also advise downgrading Ben Roethlisberger and his receivers. In ideal conditions, he might pass for 280 yards and 2-3 TDs against this defense. With the cold and snow, it looks more likely that he might finish down around 200 yards, with 1-2 TDs.
Running back Rashard Mendenhall shouldn't be adversely affected. With the Steelers presumably passing left, they might have to give him the ball more.
The Browns play out the same way. The passing and kicking game should suffer. Running back Jerome Harrison should be more affected than Mendenhall, since pass catching is a big part of his game.
One Cleveland player who might benefit: kick returner Joshua Cribbs. He's big, fast and doesn't use as many fancy cuts as some return men. He could take one back against Pittsburgh's return teams (which have struggled this year).
