Rundown Raiders

Posted Nov. 26 at 03:57 AM

We’re sometimes accused of being too high on Denver running backs, but it will be understandable this week. The Broncos are playing the Raiders, who are ranked 31st against the run, and whose futility this season has made them an opposing running back’s – almost every opposing running back’s – best friend.

Through 11 games, the Raiders have allowed seven different opposing starters to post their season-high rushing totals against them. Three other runners have at least exceeded their season averages. The week-by-week numbers are below; runners who haven’t posted their best numbers of the season against Oakland are in italics. Coincidentally enough, three of the runners who have been successful are current or former Broncos.

Running Backs versus the Raiders

Week 12 – Kolby Smith, 150 yards, 2 TDs

Week 11 – Chester Taylor, 164 yards, 3 TDs

Week 10 – Cedric Benson, 72 yards, 1 TD

Week 9 – Ron Dayne, 122 yards, 1 TD

Week 8 – LenDale White, 133 yards, 0 TD

Week 7 – Larry Johnson, 112 yards, 1 TD

Week 6 – LaDainian Tomlinson, 198 yards, 4 TDs

Week 5 (bye)

Week 4 – Ronnie Brown, 134 yards, 1 TD

Week 3 – Jamal Lewis, 56 yards, 0 TD

Week 2 – Travis Henry, 128 yards, 0 TD

Week 1 – Tatum Bell, 87 yards, 1 TD
