Kurt Warner loses a touchdown pass

Posted Dec. 24 at 03:15 AM

Merry Christmas. You actually lost that playoff game last week.

The Elias Sports Bureau, upon review, has changed the 5-yard touchdown that Anquan Boldin scored against Detroit from a catch to a run -- ruling that Kurt Warner didn't pass the ball, but lateraled it.

This will affect the results of a few key fantasy games, I figure (if you're one of the affected guys, drop us an e-mail and let us know).

The result for Boldin isn't huge. He loses a catch and 5 receiving yards, but picks up 5 rushing yards, and he still has a touchdown.

The bigger change is for Kurt Warner. He moves down from 233 yards and 2 TD passes to 228 yards and 1 TD.

This smells a little fishy to me. These kind of pass/lateral deals happen all the time. Normally, they just give the quarterback the benefit of the doubt and call them passes. Maybe somebody somewhere was playing against Warner in a fantasy league and campaigned to get it switched over.

A few other plays in the same game, however, were also switched.

Let me just say this. BA HUM BUG. Not only did this affec the outcome of my semi-final game, which I had won by 0.6 PTS, because Jason Campbell could not throw the ball for an extra 10 yards or scramble for an extra 7 in the Monday night game that was brutal to watch, especially for a Cowboys fan. But that slim Victory solidified my cashflow and granted me access to at worse, the second place prize of 360$, with the potential to win 600$ if I won the final game. Needless to say, I was more than disappointed when I was surfing the web on my phone, from a remote location with my family and friends as we enjoyed a lovely and cozy Dec. 25th dinner - and lo and behold - I notice that my live scoring stats were showing the stats for a game between myself and a team that was supposed to be battling it out for third or fourth team. I panicked, was in shock, and prayed for salvation. I scrambled to message boards, and it seems that someone decided to pull my heart right out of my chest this Christmas and crush it in their bare hands. My 96 to 95.4 semi-final victory, had just turned into a 95.4 to 95 loss, 360$ Poorer, and now I am battling it out just to make my money back for the 3rd Place Prize. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to me !

I just watched the play at NFL.com. I really can't understand why it was overturned. It didn't affect me personally, so I don't have a bias. It looked like a forward pass to me. Especially on the angle that looks like it's shot from field level at the sideline. Strange.
