A Poor Man's Maurice Jones-Drew?

Posted Dec. 10 at 03:49 AM

Reggie Bush's second NFL season could be over, and while the Southern Cal star has been a very good player, he hasn't exactly taken the league by storm. Thus far, in fact, there's little choice but to rank Bush behind another running back from a California school, UCLA's Maurice Jones-Drew, drafted almost two rounds later and often called "the poor man's Reggie Bush." The rushing and receiving numbers for both players' first two seasons (through week 14) are presented below.

Maurice Jones-Drew

Year      RuYds      ReYds      TDs
2007      655      281      8
2006      941      436      15
Total:     1596      717      23

Reggie Bush

Year      RuYds      ReYds      TDs
2007      581      417      6
2006      565      742      8
Total:      1146      1159      14

At this point, some might even want to argue if Bush will end up being the best NFL running back to come out of Southern Cal in 2006. At least in terms of rushing yards, LenDale White will be ahead of him a week from now.

LenDale White

Year      RuYds      ReYds      TDs
2007      867      114      7
2006      244      60      0
Total:      1114      174      7
