Around the NFL
The Raiders agreed with Sebastian Janikowski on a whopper contract last week -- $16 million for four years -- and that may be getting teams nervous about re-signing their players at that position. The Jets signed Nick Folk earlier in the week, giving themselves a fallback plan if they are unable to retain Jay Feely, and now two other teams have locked up their kickers with franchise tags.
The Seahawks placed the tag Olindo Mare, who's been great on kickoffs and hit his last 21 field goals last year.
And the Steelers locked up Jeff Reed. Reed has had some off-field problems, but considering the surface he kicks off, he's been about as good as any kicker in the league in recent years.
