Around the NFL
The order is set for the 2010 draft. The league conducted three coin flips today, so there’s now a 1-thru-32 order for the first round.
The Jaguars beat the Broncos (via coin flip) to get the 10th pick. And separate coin flips awarded the 16th pick to Tennessee rather than San Francisco and the 19th pick to Atlanta over Houston.
Determining the order for the draft is different than placing teams in the playoffs. All of the head-to-head, common opponent and conference record stuff is thrown out. It’s done strictly by overall record, with strength-of-schedule the next tiebreaker. If the schedules were identical, then they go to the coin flip (even if one of the teams happened to beat the other in a head-to-head meeting.
