Factoid
More so than at any other position, quarterbacks are judged on wins and losses. They are expected to be able to lift their team to victory. And if they can’t, then they’re not considered to be good quarterbacks.
That could be why patience is seemingly running out on David Garrard, Jay Cutler and Jason Campbell. Those guys haven’t won enough games.
When you start looking at wins and losses, meanwhile, the names at the top are all familiar – Manning, Brady, Rivers, Romo.
Below is a chart showing the winning percentage of each quarterback over the last four years. Only players with at least 30 starts are listed. The biggest surprises, perhaps, are Vince Young, Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco. Those guys appear higher than you might expect. The biggest disappointments are probably Carson Palmer and Matt Hasselbeck.
