Around the NFL
All indications were that the San Diego Chargers would be starting over at the running back position in 2010, after releasing LaDainian Tomlinson and reportedly electing not to tender Darren Sproles. Apparently, they've changed their minds.
According to this story in the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chargers have tendered Sproles at the first- and third-round level. With that kind of pick compensation, history suggests he's unlikely to change teams.
It's not impossible; there were rumors that Washington in particular coveted Sproles. Perhaps the Chargers made this move in order to get something for him in a trade. Either way, one of the biggest names ticketed for the unrestricted free agent market won't be available for cheap, not only in terms of contract but also draft-pick compensation.
