Around the NFL
We have a Quote of the Day nominee. Brad Childress apparently thinks LaDainian Tomlinson still has something in the tank.
Tomlinson visited Minnesota yesterday, and the Vikings would like to sign him to fill Chester Taylor's roster spot.
Childress talks as if Tomlinson would play more than Taylor did. Tha'ts what the coach said on a blog posted at the team's web site.
“I really look at it as a guy that if we were fortunate enough to get him, we would have a 1 and 1A. He understands that dynamic. But he can do all the things that he needs to do in this offense. “
Peterson has had some problems with fumbles -- particularly late last year -- so maybe the Vikings would consider using Tomlinson in goal-line situations. Maybe he'd play some on third downs. Or, this could all be simply talk, with Childress just hoping to get an adequate backup for Peterson.
Tomlinson should sign with a new team by early next week at the latest.
