Around the NFL
Quarterbacks around the league are falling into place. Arizona just signed Derek Anderson to provide some depth in case Matt Leinart doesn't pan out.
And with Arizona now settled at quarterback, Charlie Whitehurst should soon land in Seattle. He's been talking with Arizona and Seattle, and now he's down to one team -- the Seahawks should soon send a pick to the Chargers for him. (Whitehurst was San Diego's third quarterback last year, behind Billy Volek).
Earlier today, Rex Grossman signed with Washington.
The Anderson signing is the most intriguing. His contract includes $3.25 in guaranteed money and could be worth up to $18.25 million over two years if he hits all the incentives. Anderson was very good three years ago, and he wouldn't have been benched in 2008 had Braylon Edwards been catching the ball. Working with Larry Fitzgerald and the rest of a solid Arizona receiving corps could get his career back on track -- though Anderson has a history of throwing too many interceptions.
