Devin Thomas gets deep

Posted Mar. 29 at 03:44 AM

Looking at Devin Thomas, I notice that he had receptions of 25-plus yards in five straight games. That's impressive.

It's not easy to get downfield for long receptions, and this young receiver (who otherwise hasn't done much in his first two seasons) managed to do it in five straight games.

Flipping through the stats of other receivers, I see only two other players who managed to catch a 25-plus yard ball in five straight games last year.

DeSean Jackson, surprisingly, is not one of those guys. I've got Randy Moss at five, and rookie Hakeem Nicks pulling it off in six straight games for the Giants.

So put a little star by the names of Nicks and Thomas. They could be up-and-coming receivers this year. Definitely players that are worthy of a long look in August.
