Around the NFL
Some NFL observers have written that as long as Sam Bradford's shoulder, which cost him most of his final college season, checks out OK at pre-draft workouts, he's a lock to be the Rams' pick at No. 1 overall. If those people are correct, you can go ahead and write him in as the top pick right now.
Oklahoma's pro day was yesterday, and Bradford made all the throws, leaving NFL.com's Gil Brandt "almost speechless." Brandt said it was the most impressive performance he's seen by an incoming quarterback since Troy Aikman's private workout for the Cowboys more than 20 years ago.
It doesn't appear as if Bradford's shoulder is a problem; he reportedly threw with velocity during the entire workout. He threw one incompletion among his 50 passes. Pro days are designed to make players look good, of course, but Brandt has been around the game for a while and isn't prone to gushing.
What did the Rams think? Rams GM Billy Devaney said, "Really positive. I thought the whole workout was positive. I think he answered a lot of questions for a lot of people today." St. Louis Post Dispatch columnist Bryan Burwell thinks "It's a done deal" that Bradford will be the Rams' pick.
