Factoid
The Giants’ running game tailed off last year. A year after rushing for a league-high 157 yards per game, they dipped down to 115. They also scored 5 fewer rushing touchdowns.
But don’t count on New York staying down for long. They have good personnel, and Tom Coughlin has a remarkably strong track record with running games. In his last 11 years in the league (as a head coach with both New York and Jacksonville), his teams consistently have ranked among the leaders in rushing.
RUSHING YARDS DURING COUGHLIN’S LAST 11 SEASONS
Average rushing yards per game during Tom Coughlin’s last 11 seasons as an NFL head coach. He was with Jacksonville through 2002, and he took over in New York in 2004. Coughlin was not in the league in 2003, so those figures aren’t included. The “Tom Coughlin” numbers show the average of the Giants and Jaguars during his time with those franchises.
