Factoid
Poking around with some numbers, I notice that the Vikings last year had the league's most improved offense. They scored 16 more touchdowns than the year before.
The previous year, the Jets had the most improved offense, scoring 21 more touchdowns.
Both of those teams, of course, added Brett Favre in the summer. Adding one good player, it seems, can make a big difference.
The streak actually extends back additional years. The Patriots had the most improved offense in 2007; they added Randy Moss. And the Saints were the most improved in 2006 after adding Drew Brees. It seems to end in 2005. Washington was the most improved that season, but Santana Moss was their biggest addition, and he's not quite in the same class (they traded for Clinton Portis the previous year).
