Factoid
I see that there’s a story in today’s edition of The Seattle Times, detailing how Matt Hasselbeck is picking up the team’s new offense more effectively than Charlie Whitehurst. That’s no surprise, given that Hasselbeck is a veteran and knows more about Seattle’s personnel. (Plus there’s no indication that Whitehurst can even play).
The quarterbacking observations by Danny O’Neill are at the Times’ website.
If Hasselbeck is going to get back to being a decent quarterback, he’ll need to be more effective in the red zone. By our count, he’s been the worst quarterback in the entire league inside the 5-yard line – two years in a row.
Hasselbeck completed a league-low percentage of passes around the goal-line two years ago, and he did it again last season, going only 5 of 19 when the team was inside the 5.
