It didn't seem likely after he suffered serious knee injuries in back to back seasons, but Cadillac Williams is finally entering a season where he's not rehabbing an injury. Instead, he's just getting in shape like any other player.
"I'm finally back to 100% and all that," Williams tells USA Today. "This is my first offseason in two years where I haven't had to rehab just to get myself back on the field."
Granted, it's typical preseason happy talk. Everyone's healthy before they start taking hits. And Williams will have to compete for carries with Derrick Ward in Tampa Bay's backfield, against defenses that will probably dare the Bucs' second-year quarterback and raw receiving corps to beat them.
Still, Williams is getting little to no interest in early drafts. There's little doubt he's more talented than Ward. Healthy and motivated to reclaim his rookie form, he looks like an intriguing late-round flier with a little more upside than you might think.
