Around the NFL
So much for the Pete Carroll / LenDale White reunion tour. The Seahawks released White today, just a month after trading for him.
It wasn't about weight. White is currently at 220 pounds. So something else about the running back bothered the Seahawks enough that they didn't even view him as being worth bringing to camp. And Tennessee dumped him a month ago. Hmm.
This could put Julius Jones back in play -- maybe he sticks around and shares time with Justin Forsett. Seattle also has Leon Washington, but he's rehabbing a severely broken leg.
My guess is that Seattle isn't done at this position. Marshawn Lynch could be a back they're looking at. The Bills would like to unload him.

NFL.com's Jason La Canfora says White is facing a four-game suspension to start the season. Almost certainly a factor in Seattle deciding to abruptly cut ties, although they may have known about it when they acquired him (which would explain why they got him for a song in the first place). Dug up my old copy of the 2006 Index preseason magazine. In the rookie story we said "White appears to be a punk, and a lazy punk at that." Still amusing....
