Around the NFL
Darrelle Revis wants a new contract, and although the Jets are willing to give him one, there's little indication the sides are close to a deal. Revis is reportedly looking to make more than Nnamdi Asomugha's $15 million per year, and that's not likely to happen.
What's also unlikely, apparently, is a Revis holdout. It would be far too costly for the elite cornerback, as reported by NFL Network's Michael Lombardi.
Under Revis' existing contract, he has the right to void out the final two years after this season -- or the Jets can buy them out for $20 million, all of which is guaranteed. A holdout could prevent Revis from taking advantage of that option.
Show up and play for a year and ensure yourself either free agency or $20 million a year from now, or holdout and potentially lose out on that money? It ought to be an easy choice for Revis; he should show up for training camp.
