Around the NFL
The Bears just threw a curve ball into their crowded backfield. They used a supplemental draft pick on Harvey Unga, who was productive at Brigham Young before being kicked off the team.
Chicago also has Matt Forte and Chester Taylor, of course. Now they've also got Unga, who ran for 3,446 yards and 35 TDs his final three years of college. Many felt Unga might be picked in the third round, but the Bears didn't select him until the 7th (meaning they'll forfeit that pick in next year's draft). That's a sign that they're not crazy about him.
Still, Taylor is an older guy and Forte is coming off a down season. Unga could play his way into a role there -- maybe even start in 2011.
Chicago Breaking Sports notes that Unga's workout for scouts was operated by an employee of the Bears.
He weighs 244 pounds and doesn't have particularly good speed but was productive in college.

Also worth noting that Unga can catch the ball. He had two seasons with 40-plus receptions in college. Important of course in their offense.
