Around the NFL
Vincent Jackson could be down to playing no more than 10 games this year, depending on when he reports or when he is traded, according to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com. It's fallout from the Chargers placing him on the roster-exempt list.
The tactic is a tool to force Jackson's hand. The Chargers used it a few years back on Antonio Gates, which forced him to miss their opening game.
In this case, there's the added dynamic of Jackson already having been suspended for the first three games by the league.
La Canfora says that if Jackson is traded (or reports) prior to Sept. 4 at 6 pm Eastern time, he will miss only three games -- the suspensions would be served at the same time. If Jackson doesn't show up prior to Sept. 4, then he'll miss the first six games of the season.
