Around the NFL
Braylon Edwards has plenty of talent, but he just can't avoid messing up, on the field and off. His latest misstep could earn him a suspension, from either the team or the league, or both.
Edwards was arrested early this morning for a Driving While Intoxicated offense, leading to the Jets releasing a statement about the wideout. "We are reviewing the information with the league and will impose the appropriate disciplinary measures."
On the field, dropped passes are just part of the negative baggage that comes with Edwards. In week 1, he committed a penalty to wipe out a big pass play and also ran into the kicker on a field goal attempt. Both plays factored into New York's 1-point loss to Baltimore. In week 2 he caught a touchdown, hooray! And immediately drew a 15-yard penalty for taunting the defender trying to cover him.
This latest misstep is of course more serious, and could result in him being suspended, which for the Jets' sake will hopefully coincide with getting Santonio Holmes back from his own four-game suspension. In any case, the chances of Edwards, who's in a contract year, getting a long-term deal from New York seem remote. Edwards' hands were already questionable; his head is, too.
