On hiatus, not holiday

Just a quick note to apologize for skipping this week's column; I'm crunched for time at the moment. Happy to check in Saturday and answer any questions you have -- just post them in the comments section below.

Justin: Any thoughts on tweaks for this lineup would be appreciated. QB: Peyton, Brady, Vick (I was considering Rivers on Thursday over Brady, but I obviously missed the boat there), RB: MJD, Turner, Foster, Hillis, DMC, Moreno (debating on whether to spend the money on CJ and also considering Charles), WR: Andre, White, Wayne, Colston, Nicks, Maclin (also considering Megatron, Austin, Wallace, Branch, Garcon, Britt). I'm a little scared off by Bowe after the past two weeks. TE: Witten and Gronko (also considering Z. Miller, Lewis, Boss), K: Bryant, Buehler, Suisham, D/ST: MIA (vs. BUF) and OAK (vs. DEN). This lineup would leave me with 1.37 M of cap space so I have some flexibility. Anybody else you really like his week that I haven't mentioned? Thanks much

I forgot to mention that scoring is POINTS. Sorry

Peter: Not many guys obviously missing. I'd probably go away from Moreno with Tebow starting at QB (they may not move the ball so well, and even if they do Tebow could vulture any TD runs), and I'd probably also go away from Colston at BAL. Agree on Bowe; for a while there he was my V.D. this season, but I think we've seen his best, second-best and third-best already.

This is for week 16, have a few dilemmas. This is not for Fanball this is for Fireleague/Rotohog Salary cap. I am top 10 worldwide in both, and am in second in a money league, behind by 230 points. Scoring is 2 points per rushing and receiving yard, 60 points for a TD. Passing is 1 point per passing yard (rushing is still 2 points per) and 60 for a TD, and negative 1 point per in-completion. I have three trades left this week, and I need to move MJD. I already have Foster. What RBs do you like most this week? I am considering any of the following. Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, Darren McFadden, LeShon McCoy. I don't trust Jamaal Charles enough, his total yardage doesn't help his case. And Michael Turner does nothing receiving, and he may sit week 17. I somewhat want to factor in week 17 because I may have to move other players for that week. I will probably need to also get rid of Andre Johnson. I am thinking Vincent Jackson, because AJ is a late game and I want to play him if he starts. We can make moves up to gametime. VJ is also a late game. Any ideas here? QBs. I have Vick, the weather is....interesting. If I had more trades I would probably ditch Vick because of the snowstorm, but he's Vick and in this format he is a beast. I don't know what my opponent will do. I will probably be forced to keep him, but if AJ plays I will probably trade Vick for BREES or Peyton Manning. I also have Tom Brady...I will have to keep him (I know, boo hoo for having to keep Brady) vs Buffalo, I just hope he can do similar to Peyton. So I am selling Peyton Hillis (This guy is another dilemma, conventional wisdom says to get rid of him, but I am not 100 percent convinced and I can see the logic in holding him because other RBs are hard to predict this week and moving either Vick or Brady instead, because that seems like more of a sure thing. This may be a case of my overthinking it though, which I am very prone to do.) MJD, who is hurt, has to be traded. Then either AJ or Vick. So..I could trade Brady, Vick/AJ and MJD OR Hillis, Vick/AJ and MJD. Hope this at least somewhat makes sense, and I'm not positive on how to make paragraph breaks, so I apologize for the huge block of text.

Chris: Think I understand at least most of this. The RBs you name as alternatives to J-D all look fine to me. Agree that I'm not wholly certain that Hillis needs to be replaced (he's been good in tough matchups this year) but I'd probably go ahead and make the move anyway. Re WRs, AJ's ankle makes me nervous and I do like Vincent Jackson as the only real option left for Philip Rivers. Wouldn't worry too much about the weather for either Brady or Vick; both of those guys just keep putting up numbers regardless of location or opponent. I think that answers most of what you wrote, but it seems to me that I'm mostly agreeing with you AND that you're doing fine without my advice anyway. Good luck.

If there are any players that one would want to pick up in Week 17 for the Challenge Contests, can you name some?
