It's too early to stick a fork in Tatum Bell. He's re-signed with the Lions, and it looks like there's at least a chance that hell be their starter this year.
Check out Mike O'Hara's article in The Detroit News.
Bell began last season as a starter but fell out of favor with Mike Martz (who was fired and has since landed in San Francisco). In O'Haras article, he talks to numerous coaches who speak favorably of Bell. The guys who'll be running the offense this season pushed hard for the team to re-sign him.
"The biggest selling job we did was, the offensive staff stood on the table for him," said head coach Rod Marinelli. "They fought. They really wanted him back. They all felt really good about him."
And despite having a largely undistinguished career, Bell isn't lacking for confidence. "I think I can get 1,300 yards. That's my goal -- at least 1,300, 15 touchdowns. I know it's reachable."
