A reader, Michael Long, asked about wide receivers scoring lots of touchdowns – which guys turned the highest ratios of catches into touchdowns. Specifically, he wanted to know if James Jett (12 TDs in 46 catches) was the best in this category.
So I re-mixed the numbers. This time, I looked at the 544 wide receivers who’ve scored at least 5 TDs (in a season) in the last 15 years. Then I calculated which guys turned the highest ratios of catches into touchdowns.
CFL transplant Marc Boerigter, who came up big late in the 2002 season with Kansas City, was the winner. He scored 8 TDs – many from long range, as I recall – despite catching only 20 passes. The list shows all 20 guys who’ve averaged better than a touchdown per 5 catches. Again, the 2007 season is well represented, with those four guys in bold.
