Greg Olsen and Heath Miller look like the best of the tight ends. Olsen played awfully well last week, with three big first-half catches against the Seahawks. Miller has been a disappointment this year, but he’s been coming on recently. He’s scored in back-to-back games, and he’s caught 4-5 passes three weeks in a row. With Pittsburgh’s starting receivers potentially struggling against the Jets’ corners (Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie could do a pretty good lock-down job on Mike Wallace and Hines Ward), I’m thinking Miller will play a big role on Sunday. The overall team trends favor Olsen. In the regular season, Green Bay’s defense allowed almost as many touchdowns to tight ends (7) as wide receivers (9), and Olsen played well in both of the previous meetings between these teams, catching 5 passes in each game, with a touchdown in the game at Soldier Field. Dustin Keller looks like a distant third; he’s not playing much of a role in the Jets offense right now. Keller was big in the postseason last year, but the Jets have Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards worked into their offense now. Keller has been held under 40 yards in seven of his last 10 games, and he’s played 14 straight games without scoring. Green Bay is using three tight ends right now, but Andrew Quarless has been working his way to the top. In their two playoff games, he’s caught 4 passes for 41 yards. With Donald Lee and Tom Crabtree, the only hope is that maybe they catch a play-action flip around the goal-line. Lee caught short touchdowns in each of the final two regular-season games, while Crabtree scored his first career touchdown in the win over the Eagles.
